Survey on Internet Banking Security

The group undertook a small survey among a selected group of people in the UK to ascertain the general perspective on Internet banking by the general public. Besides scouring the internet for external resources, we felt it would be profitable to have a general idea of how the average consumer in UK took on to this. While limited in reach as compared to global research studies done by professional bodies, this survey presents rather interesting and perhaps more specific data for our purposes.  The questions and results obtained are presented here as follows.

Conclusion

From this entire project, we have covered various aspects of security in Internet Banking. The various forms of risks which threaten its safety and how these issues are currently controlled have been discussed in much detail. Also, the future of internet security as well as how the consumer should adapt to these challenges have been mentioned. Indeed, while the integrity of the most secure system in the world can be breached, a huge responsibility lies with the consumer in his habits and awareness in using such services. While many are still ignorant in habits such as updating anti-viral software and installing firewalls, it is encouraging that the current generation of people is bucking the trend of internet safety, according to our survey. In fact, our survey shows that more than half believe that internet banking has ‘very good’ safety and over 70 percent would ‘definitely’ recommend it to their friends. Indeed, we can conclude that internet banking is safe and can be made safer provided everyone plays their part in making it a safe and secure environment.
